Issue #1: Rocks – Call for Entries

Issue 1 of Flint will explore the rock as a medium for art, mysticism, place, and history. This first issue will not only collect works about rocks, but also explore rocks’ technological and tangible/tactile qualities in its presentation. Additionally, digital and hybrid (digital and physical) works will be housed/published online at Sensate Journal (the journal of critical media practice at Harvard University). Publishing – in both the scholarly and art world – has been struggling to marry print and multimedia forms. By combining print and digital/web-based content, Flint Magazine is an opportunity to explore this territory and the possibilities of a multimedia magazine today.

Flint Magazine is currently accepting submissions for film and video, sound, print, drawing, photographic, and sculptural works. Since the magazine is unbound and being published in print and online, we have the flexibility to mix different mediums. Currently, we are considering the formats listed above, however we are open to reproducing works in other, less conventional, formats we may not have considered. If you think your work would be a great fit for Flint Magazine, we hope you will consider contributing by filling out the submission for to the right.

Submission Deadline: August 31,2015

Please describe the work, how it relates to the theme of Issue 1 of Flint Magazine, how you imagine the work being produced and presented.

Upload the media to a third party hosting service (Dropbox, Google Drive, Soundcloud, Vimeo, etc), and enter the URL in the field above.
